The CLAMPEX® KTR 603 external clamping set (shrink disk) is a shaft-hollow shaft-connection. This external clamping set allows for a backlash-free and frictionally engaged connection between cylindrical shafts without keyway and hollow shafts. The wedge-shaped components of the clamping sets that are shifted on top of each other via clamping screws generate radial forces which provide for friction fit between shaft and hollow shaft. This friction fit allows for simultaneous transmission of torque and axial force. Disassembly of the CLAMPEX KTR 603 external clamping set is significantly easier compared to other types of clamping sets, since KTR 603 automatically unclamps when untightening the clamping screws. CLAMPEX KTR 603 external clamping screws (shrink disks) are preferred, among other things, as an alternative to a feather key connection considering their benefits.
