These seals are four-lip seals with a specially developed sealing profile. A selection of elastomer for standard and special applications enables sealing again nearly all liquid and gaseous media. X-ring seals are endless vulcanized in molds. They are characterized by the annular shape with an almost square profile. The dimensions are defined by the inner diameter and the cord thickness. Compared to the O-ring, the four-lip ring has the following advantages:-Safety against twisting. Due to their special profile, the seal does not tend to roll in the groove (with back and forth movement)- low friction- very good sealing behavior. Due to a more favorable price distribution over the cross section, a good seal is achieved- a lubricant reservoir can form between the sealing lips- no disturbing flash. The often disturbing flash on the inner or outer diameter of the O-ring (due to production) lies in the case of the four-lip ring between the sealing lips. X-ring seals are self-acting, double-acting sealing elements. Installation in the radial or axial direction of the contact forces evoke the initial sealing effect. They are overlaid by the system pressure. The result is a total sealing pressure, which increases with the increase in the system pressure. The gasket acts under pressure similar to a liquid with high viscosity. This causes the pressure to be applied evenly to all sides.
